Poetry in Southampton

Southampton has a vibrant and flourishing poetry scene with many different platforms that champion the new and emerging talent on the scene and showcase some of the country’s finest talents. Whether you like your poetry read from a page and packing a punch or shot from the hip with great performance and emotion, you’re sure to find an evening that’ll leave an impression. Premier poetry platform Hammer & Tongue run a monthly slam and spotlight in Southampton which is well worth checking out if you’ve never been to a night before. There is a wealth of other open mics and fantastic spots to check out as well, get stuck into a search and see what stands out to you.  You won’t be disappointed.

You can find more information on the event here.

The Southampton Modern Jazz Club

Every Sunday the Talking Heads get swinging to the sounds of the Southampton Modern Jazz Club. Curating some of the finest talent in the country, this free event serves up evenings that are as classy as they are groovy and considering they do all of this for free it makes this yet another evening that should not be missed. Get yourself along and tap your hangover away with a little culture and divine inspiration.

It will perfectly showcase every shiny side of what makes The Hobbit such a special place. Tickets are only £5 and there will be an outside bar and BBQ.
